EP/Cannock to spec £15m call centre in Dearne Valley

English Partnerships (EP) and Cannock Developments have signed a joint venture deal for a £15m speculative call centre development in the Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire.

The scheme, on the site of the former Manvers Main Colliery at Wath-upon-Dearne, will include England’s first Callflex centre, a serviced call centre operation.

The developer will start work on this first 8,690 sq m (95,000 sq ft) phase in April. Phase One forms part of a £37m five-year plan for the 6.2ha (15 acre) site which has the potential for up to 21,367 sq m (230,000 sq ft) and to create 2,000 jobs.

Cannock managing director Stephen Bantoft said: “Enterprise Zone benefits are an attraction as is the good supply of high quality labour. The local college is even offering an NVQ in call centre operations.”

EP began regeneration work on 24 former British Coal sites in Yorkshire and Humberside, including Manvers Main in 1996.
