EPRA, the trade body representing Europe’s listed real estate industry, has named the chief executive of French REIT Gecina as its first female chair.
Méka Brunel, whose roles also include a non-executive directorship of Hammerson, will take the role from Vonovia chief executive Rolf Buch at EPRA’s annual conference today.
Brunel has promised to bring an increased focus on sustainability as well as diversity and inclusion in the European property industry.
She said: “There is no denying that EPRA, listed real estate and the wider global economy face great uncertainty in the coming months and years. But with this uncertainty comes a tremendous opportunity to create lasting change that pivots us towards a more inclusive, diverse and sustainable future.”
