Ernst & Young finance chief quits for RBS

Ernst & Young’s (E&Y) head of real estate finance has quit the accountancy giant after almost 10 years.

Mike McNamara, who joined E&Y in 1997, is to join Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

At RBS, McNamara will work alongside Global Banking & Markets Real Estate Finance head Stephen Eighteen.

He will have specific responsibility for RBS’s London real estate finance activities.

“Ernst & Young is a fantastic place and I am sad to be leaving but I have an unbelievable opportunity at RBS where I will have responsibility for joint venture and equity investment as well as the lending business,” said McNamara.

He is not expected to join RBS until September.

During his near decade at E&Y, McNamara advised on Tesco’s first £675m property joint venture and over £400m of transactions for RBS.
