Essensys says COO is not essential

Alan Pepper has resigned as chief operating officer of essensys, after the proptech firm “removed the need” for the role.

Pepper, who will step down immediately as an executive director by mutual agreement, was previously chief financial officer and has been with the business for the past five years. He will stay with the business until the end of May.

The firm, which has yet to return to profitability after its last year’s losses quadrupled, said in an H1 update this morning that trading was “in line with expectations”.

Total revenue grew by 18% to £12.9m, driven primarily by the North American business, which generated growth of 36% to £8.1m.

Chief executive Mark Furness said: “Essensys grew revenues strongly in the first half of our financial year and is accelerating plans to return to profitability and cash generation.”
