Essential plans first office-to-resi

Berkshire House Maidenhead CGI 570p

Essential Living has submitted plans this week for its first office-to-residential housing scheme at Berkshire House in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

The group – which is backed by $200m (£129m) from M3 Capital Partners – is planning to transform a 12-storey office block in the town centre.

Essential Living was set up specifically to design, build and manage rented homes and plans to deliver 5,000 units across the South East in the next 10 years.

The ADZ Architects-designed Maidenhead scheme comprises 68 flats, including studios and two-bedroom flats for private rental.

It will also feature a “club-lounge” and terrace at the top of the tower.

The group also bought the Archway Tower in North London last month, with similar plans to overhaul the defunct office block into housing.
