The Uliving consortium has received planning consent for a 648-bed student accommodation scheme for the University of Essex.
The £22m Meadows complex by Bouygues Development and operator Derwent Living approved by Essex county council, will be situated just off Boundary Road on land adjoining the campus.
A common room, launderette and shops will also be part of the scheme, which includes 420 en-suite rooms and 12-bed townhouses for 228 students.
Construction is due to start on site in the second quarter and is schedulted for completion in Q3 2013.
