Estate agents have been warned they risk being banned if theyengage in “improper, unfair, deceitful or oppressivepractices”.
The warning has come from the Office of Fair Trading. Thepractices include tipping off developers about potentialproperties. Others cited by the OFT were: inflating prices ofproperties by informing buyers of fictitiously high bids; failingto disclose a personal interest; and failing to inform sellers ofadditional fees paid for finding properties or of commissionspaid by mortgage and insurance companies.
