Eurozone fears pervade the market

More internet-only companies will open stores in the next couple of years, say market players, who are also worried about the future of the eurozone.

Almost 75% of respondents in a survey by Estates Gazette and Multi Development believes that more cyber retailers will be following the example of Google, eBay and Bodens and open bricks-and-mortar stores.

Meanwhile, more than 62% of those surveyed said that the economic uncertainty in Europe was “increasingly worrying”, while 43% admitted to being pessimistic about any upturn in Europe’s fortunes. Owing to Europe’s problems, China was cited as being the most important market.

In the UK, respondents said that retail rents would remain stable during the first quarter of 2012, as would consumer and retailer sentiment.
