Martyn Evans has resigned as creative director of Development Securities-owned Cathedral Group.

Evans joined Cathedral’s board in 2011 but has worked with Cathedral founder Richard Upton since 1999. He will leave the business in December.

Evans told EGi that last year’s acquisition of Cathedral by Development Securities “felt like the crowning achievement” of his time with the business.

“It’s been a really fantastic ride and leaving wasn’t an easy decision,” said Evans. “We are moving into a new office at the beginning of November. Once we have completed that challenge, it seemed to be an appropriate moment for me to go and look for another one.”

Prior to joining Cathedral, Evans ran a branding and communications agency working in property, regeneration and urban design for clients including CABE, the Design Council and Design for London.

He is a board member of the London Festival of Architecture and a member of the development committee of the British Property Federation.

Evans said he was looking for a “breather” before taking on another role but had “irons in the fire”.

A recruitment process for his replacement is understood to be underway.
