Property’s top guns on form in Ruislip
The industry’s shooting club – the Property Gun and Punt Club – celebrated its 30th anniversary with the best-attended annual shoot for a decade.
More than 140 keen guns turned out at Holland & Holland’s shooting ground near Ruislip, west London, to challenge an 80-bird layout, supplemented with a team flurry, won by Simmons Smashers; a gnat fly-by, and a two-man charity flush, won by Andy Black of Black Interiors and Paul Britton of Kingly Design, who shot 20 out of 20 between them.
No one shot down the infuriating gnat, but it was an entertaining sideshow, along with trick shooting from Mickey Rouse.
The overall winners were the Wild Bunch, comprising Black, Britton, Knight Frank’s Andy Miles, Hartnell Taylor Cook’s John Rand, Lee Barron’s Rob Hobson and Lloyds Banking’s Jennie Cartwright, with a total score of 359.
The day was rounded off with prize-giving, a traditional hog roast and an auction conducted by nervous novice Baron Phillips.
The day raised £3,000 for Lionheart, a benevolent fund for RICS members.

M&G riders finish strong after 100 miles
Matthews & Goodman riders were among the throngs taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100.
Richard Beaumont, David Laws, Simon Pratt, Tim Austin and Ben Hartley pedalled the route made famous by Sir Bradley Wiggins in the 2012 Olympics, along with 25,000 other two-wheel enthusiasts.
The 100-mile ride started at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, wound through the Surrey countryside, and finished on the Mall in central London.
All five riders set personal best times, with Pratt and Austin completing the course in less than five hours.
They raised money for brain injury association Headway and Revitalise, which provides holidays for carers.

Alpine attitude
Sam Sutton has an (Italian) job on his hands. The director of East Midlands agency Phillips Sutton will be taking part in a tortuous 360-mile ride across the Alps to raise funds for Cancer Research.
The four-day challenge, from Geneva to Milan, will take in the notoriously cobblestoned San Gottardo Pass.
The Leicester agent will be part of a 70-strong group of cyclists that will set off on 5 September and aim to raise £100,000 for Hope Against Cancer. To donate, go to www.justgiving.com/SamSutton-leicester

Savills grads get their ducks in a row
Savills graduates made a splash over the weekend by hosting a duck race day.
Amid the music, bouncy castles, face painting and food stalls was an army of rubber ducks sent tumbling down a waterslide. Prizes were up for grabs for duck sponsors.
The event, held in Bishop’s Park in Fulham, SW6, raised £3,000 for charity Dreams Come True.
Sue Fowler of Dreams Come True said: “The money will make a huge difference to the lives of many children and young people.”

Pressing concerns at Moorfield Group
By the end of this year Moorfield Group staff will be identifiable by their strapping chests. That’s because more than 2,000 of them, a third of the company, will have individually completed 66,795 press-ups in a fundraising challenge for LandAid.
Participants start with one press-up on day one and then add an extra press-up each day for 365 days. That’s 60,000 calories burned for each participant, or in food terms, 257 Big Macs. In drink terms, it’s 659 shots of toffee vodka.
Marc Gilbard, chief executive of Moorfield Group, said: “We hit 200 press-ups a day each last week and are starting to feel – and show – the benefits. We now need to raise awareness so that LandAid can receive the financial benefits.”

A Caledonian ride to support research
Tim Garratt of Midlands agent Innes England is hopping into the saddle to cycle 220 miles through the lochs and glens of Scotland as part of the University of Nottingham’s Life Cycle 5 event.
He will be joining Chris Jagger, head of estates at University of Nottingham, and his colleague, David Greenway, the university’s vice chancellor, among others.
The ride sets off on 4 September from Inverness and finishes in Glasgow two days later.
Garratt said: “This cycle will be a true challenge. At the beginning of 2015 the most I had ever ridden was 30 miles.”
The fundraising target of £350,000, over several cyclo-sportives this year in the hilliest parts of England and Scotland, will help the university to use its Nobel Prize-winning expertise in MRI scanning to study dementia. Support the riders at www.justgiving.com/Tim-Garratt1
