Picton cyclists lead the charge to Waterloo
Celebrated British army officer Sir Thomas Picton was known for being gallant, fearless and capable when he led British forces into the Battle of Waterloo. And now a charge of novice cyclists from Picton Property Income hopes to conjure the same spirit when they cycle 235 miles from London’s Waterloo Station to the site of the battle in Belgium to mark the 200th anniversary of the epic Anglo-French campaign.
Adam Green, Andrew Dewhirst, Laurence Jones, Matt Barker, Michael Morris, Nick Thompson and Tim Hamlin will also be celebrating the company’s 10th birthday when they set off for their challenge on 2 July.
Equally ambitious is their target to raise £20,000 for three charities: LandAid, War Child and The Funding Network. Support them at

Gromit creator gets kids up and modelling
The creator of one of Britain’s best-known animated characters gave youngsters a sneak peek into his craft during an event supported by West End retail and leisure giant Shaftesbury.
Jim Parkyn, creator of the Aardman character Gromit, presented a clay modelling workshop and showed students how to bring their own models to life as part of a day-long programme of events to give young people a taste of life in creative industries, earlier this month.
He was among some of the leading minds in theatre, visual effects, photography, design and marketing to lend their skills as part of the Sohocreate Festival earlier this month, which celebrated Soho’s rich creative heritage.
Channel crossing pits agents against owners
A looming test of endurance, in which agents will go head-to-head with landlords in a race across the English Channel, is a step closer after the challengers completed a two-hour qualifying swim in Dover Harbour on 5 June. They now have the green light to embark on the 21-mile challenge from Dover to Cap Gris Nez.
The swimmers have been upping the ante in a series of competitive training challenges, the next of which will be the JLL Property Swim at Eton Dorney on 4 July. The Sea Breeam Charity Challenge aims to raise £50,000 for a number of causes, and is supported by BLP, Nabarro, Addleshaw Goddard and Bluu.
