Veteran property investor Richard Balfour-Lynn presented The Variety Club of Great Britain with a cheque for £300,000 at the charity’s Christmas lunch last month.
Balfour-Lynn handed over the cheque on behalf of both Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin owner Alternative Hotel Group, and Marylebone Warwick Balfour, which owns Liberty of London. He said that the firms had raised the money in just five months.
The lunch was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, W1, to celebrate the funds raised throughout 2009.
Paul Lawrence, chief barker for The Variety Club, said: “We recognise that 2010 will be a challenging year, but our new relationship with the AHG/MWB groups has the potential to raise millions for the Variety Club.
“We are also looking forward to benefiting from the support of thousands of employees of the Co-operative Group.”
