Andy Bond, who was in charge of Asda’s George label before he left the company in 2011, is one of a number of senior retail sector executives who have grouped together to start a children and ladies wear discount fashion chain, codenamed Project 50.

South African billionaire Christo Wiese will provide £20 million of funding.
