Former Texas Homecare chief executive Ron Trenter is considering joining ex-B&Q boss Jim Hodkinson in a bid for Sainsburys Homebase.
David Bremner, former chief executive, of the supermarkets business, who was fired by new chief executive Sir Peter Davis, could also be considering a bid.
Venture capitalist groups, including Cinven, are also subject to speculation on potential bidders. Charterhouse Development Capital (CDC) confirmed it was working with Hodkinson on a possible bid.
