A former director at consultancy TFT has struck out on his own with the launch of a new firm.
Louis Maycock spent four years at TFT, most recently as a director specialising in party wall matters. He has now set up Neighbourly Chartered Surveyors, focused on that same business line.
In a social media post about the launch, Maycock said: “Having worked in the party wall and neighbourly matters sector for just over 17 years, I have had the privilege of working with some fantastic clients and surveyors on a variety of projects throughout the country. I have learnt that the most effective surveyors are the ones who, yes, know the [Part Wall etc] Act well, but are personable and good with people. They recognise that they do not just walk into people’s homes and offices, they walk into people’s lives and business, their very livelihoods.
“There is room in the industry for firms that do not take on the ‘aggressive’ and ‘bulldog’ tactics some surveyors still take, but instead align with the vision of many clients for a harmonious community and one that safeguards their image and maintains positive relationships with their neighbours.”
Maycock added that he also wants to promote “more diversity of faces and peoples who work in the built environment”, adding: “It should be a better reflection of the melting pot we live in; especially London. Furthermore, an age gap is forming with lower intakes of the next generation into the profession.”
