Ex-Thai PM bids for Manchester City

Thaksin Sinawatra, former prime minister of Thailand, is thought to have tabled an offer for Manchester City worth about £80m.

The club leases the City of Manchester stadium from Manchester City Council, paying rent based on turnover. The club has debts of about £60m, including £24m owed to board directors, as well as stadium-related and lease debt.

Sinawatra faces competition from Ray Ranson, the former Manchester City player, who put in a revised offer for the club last week.
