BT has completed a deal – thought to be worth £30m – for the development of a 35,302 sq m (380,000 sq ft) national distribution centre on a 8.9ha (22 acre) site at Magna Park in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.
The decision quashes speculation that BT was going to contract out its distribution arm. If construction goes to schedule, the centre could be up and running by the end of the year.
BT is believed to be buying the freehold of the site from the park’s developer, the Lutterworth Partnership, a joint venture between Gazeley Properties and the Church Commissioners.
DTZ Debenham Thorpe advised BT. Chesterton and Lambert Smith Hampton acted for the Lutterworth Partnership.
