Exclusive Compass tipped to go to AMEC’s Birmingham Great Park

Compass – the contract catering giant – is tipped to be the first occupier at Parklands, AMEC’s 12 ha (30 acre) office village at Birmingham Great Park in the West Midlands.

AMEC is close to agreeing a pre-let on a 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) office building around the asking rent of £150.69 per sq m (£14 per sq ft). The potential tenant is looking to take a 15 year lease with a rent free period.

Local occupier Albright & Wilson, is also rumoured to be talking to AMEC about taking up to 7,432 sq m (80,000 sq ft) on the site, which has room for up to 37,160 sq m (400,000 sq ft) of office accommodation. The former Rubery Hospital site forms part of an 81ha (200 acre) mixed-use development.

Construction has started on a 13 screen Virgin multiplex on the Birmingham Great Park site and Safeway is already trading.

Freeth Melhuish is acting for Compass while Drivers Jonas is advising Albright & Wilson. Hillier Parker and Grimley are letting agents on the office village at Birmingham Great Park.
