Merseyside Development Corporation has signed up Bridgehouse Projects to convert Liverpool’s former BAT factory into homes as part of the Sandhills regeneration programme.
The Manchester-based developer has an option to buy the freehold once the £2m redevelopment is complete. The 13,006 sq m (140,000 sq ft) former cigarette factory has been empty since it was bought by MDC in 1991.
Bridgehouse’s scheme is the next phase in MDC’s Sandhills regeneration project, which has already seen distribution company Pleromy take 8,361 sq m (90,000 sq ft) of warehousing at Sandhills Business Park.
