Waterford Wedgwood, the Irish-based crystal and china manufacturer, is targeting Staffordshire for a new distribution warehouse.
The company has appointed DTZ Debenham Thorpe to find a suitable location for a 11,148 sq m (120,000 sq ft) shed. According to DTZ’s Barry Allen the company has limited its search to the area around the Potteries, to service its existing china-producing plants but beyond that “is keeping an open mind on whether to go for leasehold or freehold.”
Waterford Wedgwood’s move reflects a growth in sales following a major rationalisation initiated in 1992, which included 945 job losses and increased outsourcing of production.
