The Met Office’s decision to build an office and R&D headquarters in Exeter has sparked interest in HQ-type buildings in the city, according to Chesterton.
Chesterton’s latest analysis, set to be released in the next few days, predicts a rosy future for the Exeter office market, driven by Met Office’s move. Nico Marshall-Lee, head of office agency in Chesterton’s Exeter office, said: “Exeter’s profile has been boosted considerably and will continue to develop further.”
Friends Provident, Harlyn Systems and the Exeter Friendly Society have all moved or are planning to move soon in the Exeter area, vacating properties in Exeter Business Park and Peninsula Park. Chesterton said interest in the vacated space was high.
Marshall-Lee said: “Despite foot and mouth and talk of economic problems, the office market in Exeter shows no sign of slowdown.
“The Met Office building is now rising from the ground, SWEB is committed to the land adjacent to junction 29 of the M5.”
