Expedia confirms it will expand presence at Angel Building

Expedia has confirmed its 138,000 sq ft expansion at Derwent London’s Angel BuildingAngel-Building-THUMB.jpeg in Clerkenwell, EC1.

As reported by EG, the online travel company has agreed to lease the space currently occupied by Cancer Research UK, which has appointed Gryphon Property Partners to find it a new HQ of circa 100,000 sq ft.

The deal will bring Expedia’s total take-up at the building to 219,260 sq ft on a lease expiring in 2030. The company also occupies 67,482 sq ft across the road at Derwent’s Angel Square.

Johan Svanstrom, president of Hotels.com, part of the Expedia group, said: “We see a lot of opportunity in London given the continued growth of ecommerce and technology industries and the strong pool of talent in the city.

“We look forward to expanding the presence of our Expedia group of businesses here in years to come.”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “I am delighted that Expedia has pledged its long term commitment to London, helping to generate new jobs and growth for the capital. Their expansion offers further proof that London remains open for business, talent and investment.”
