Shared living concept The Collective has won planning permission for more rooms at a former King’s Cross brothel.
The Collective has got the green light from Camden council to extend its existing site at 17-19 Chalton Street, N1, to 18 bedrooms.
Previously known as the Sun and Steam sauna site, the derelict building was used as a highly frequented brothel and following complaints from residents was closed down by police in December 2012.
It was then bought by The Collective, which redeveloped it into living space for 14 students and young professionals at affordable prices.
Reza Merchant, founder and chief executive of The Collective, said: “It is fair to say the redeveloped site has improved the neighbourhood significantly. This planning consent further confirms the need for this type of housing in London and there is no doubt the extra rooms will be filled in a matter of days.”
The Collective in Camden was recently home to 26-year-old property graduate Tim Lowe, who is on a four-month odyssey to search for renting options in London for just £500 a month all in .
