Prudential has won planning permission for its £22m extension of the Grafton Centre in Cambridge, which will take the total size of the shopping centre to over 46,450 sq m (500,000 sq ft).
The extension will add 17 new shop units, a food store and eight new apartments increasing overall retail floorspace by about 6,503 sq m (70,000 sq ft). Pru’s scheme will see the centre extended across its service yard opening a new frontage to Burleigh Street.
According to the Pru, work on the scheme could start in late 2001.
