Extreme Leisure and Grimsby FC team up

Football-image-generic-THUMB.jpegSports property developer Extreme Leisure is partnering with Grimsby Town FC to develop a stadium and leisure scheme at Peaks Parkway, Lincolnshire.

Having now signed an agreement with Grimsby Town FC, Extreme Leisure is now progressing with the viability assessment of the project with a view to obtaining pre-application planning.

The current facility mix being considered includes a state-of-the-art 14,000-capacity football stadium, an ice rink, additional sports and leisure facilities, shops, and food and beverage space.

To ensure viability and limit the cost to the local authority, the scheme includes an affordable residential element. Extreme has secured full funding as well as expressions of interest and prelet agreements for 50% of the development with a national leisure operator.

Investment for the stadium and leisure project is expected to total more than £55m.

Councillor Ray Oxby, leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Where there’s the potential for public assets and resources to be involved, we must follow a strict and proper process to make sure we get the right result for the whole area.’’

John Fenty of Grimsby Town FC added: “This development will ensure that the Grimsby Town Football Club remains at the heart of the community for future generations.”

Alistair Gosling, chairman of Extreme Leisure, said: “This stadium and sports destination will provide inbound investment, local employment and better facilities for local people and visitors.
