F&C Reit Asset Management has been chosen as preferred bidder for the 211 properties in the £600m Dawnay Day property empire that BDO Stoy Hayward is selling.
It will be the largest property transaction struck in the UK this year by far.
Those close to the deal hope to complete the transaction before Christmas subject to due diligence.
