F1 circuit planned for London’s Royal Docks

Funding is in place to build a new Formula 1 track in London’s Royal Docks, E16.

US investment firm 777 Partners are believed to be working with a UK sports group on plans to host a grand prix and develop a new sports and entertainment complex at the Royal Docks in the borough of Newham.

The proposal has the full support of London mayor Sadiq Khan, who wants to bring F1 to the capital before his second term ends in 2024.

The proposed route will be a circuit around the docks and City Airport, with its northern side running by ExCel and its southern side tracing the banks of the Thames.
