DTLR minister Lord Falconer will chair a meeting of ministerial “Design Champions” today.
Design Champions have been appointed in several Government departments, with the task of developing action plans to improve the design quality of buildings commissioned and funded by their departments.
They meet regularly under Lord Falconer’s chairmanship.
Each Design Champion has agreed personally oversee at least two construction projects.
Today’s meeting, the first since the General Election, will assess the Government ‘s record in procuring well-designed schools, hospitals and other public buildings.
Joining the Design Champions at the meeting will be CABE chairman Sir Stuart Lipton and CABE chief executive John Rouse.
