Famous Brands has agreed a £120m deal to buy Gourmet Burger Kitchen from Yellowwoods.
The company said it was planning to double the number of GBK outlets over the next five years, both by adding to the number of sites in the UK and by expanding into South Africa.
In the UK, it plans a further 10-15 new restaurants a year.
