Farm subsidy reform could affect large landowners

Proposals to reform farming subsidies following the UK’s exit from the European Union could see a reduction in the amount going to large landowners.

Around two-thirds of the £3.1bn in subsidies are allocated according to farm size, benefiting the larger landowners.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England is calling for all farmers to receive an increased per-hectare amount for the first 50 hectares, with payments being reduced thereafter.
