Fast-tracked Economic Crime Bill set for royal assent

Britain is poised to freeze the assets of more than 100 Russians with links to the Putin regime as a new law makes it easier to impose sanctions.

The fast-tracked Economic Crime Bill, which is expected to receive royal assent later today, will remove the legal test of “appropriateness” in deciding who ministers can sanction and will allow them to simply “mirror” sanctions imposed by other Western allies.
