Fattal buys Manchester hotel site

Fattal Hotel Group has bought a site on Manchester’s Adair Street, where it will open a 275-bedroom Leonardo hotel in 2021.

It is the second deal in Manchester for the Israel-based group, which operates the Leonardo and Jury’s Inn hotel brands, after it partnered with Swedish investor Pandox to buy the Midland Hotel in October.

Jason Carruthers, managing director of Leonardo and Jurys Inn Hotels UK and Ireland, said: “The opportunity to expand into a vibrant and growing city like Manchester is a great one, and this move serves to strengthen our portfolio and network enormously.”

Capital & Centric has submitted plans for the 110,000 sq ft hotel, which will feature a gym, bar, restaurant and “extensive” public areas.

Adam Higgins, co-founder of Capital & Centric, said: “Our vision was to deliver something interesting and quirky, that people want to explore. We want this to set the standard and for other developers to be creative and come up with designs that excite people and draw in visitors.”

CBRE advised Capital & Centric on the deal.
