Some 120 female property professionals rallied to raise £200,000 for charity at a dinner hosted by lord mayor of London Fiona Woolf CBE on 1 May.
Key to the fundraising success was a very persuasive Jeffrey Archer. The novelist conducted an auction in which one of the lots was a meal cooked by Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett, who also led the charge in the kitchen on the night.
Archer later convinced 40 people to donate £500 to Working Chance, a London-based charity that helps women with criminal convictions find work.
The event, held at Mansion House in the City, included speeches from US senator and peacekeeping envoy George Mitchell and governor of HMP Holloway Julia Killick.
