G A Property Services raised £873,250 under the hammer at its residential auction in Maidstone last week. Of the 49 lots offered, only 16 sold in the room and GA had to rely on 12 sales prior for a disappointing success rate of 57%.
Kent properties dominated the catalogue: a large house on New Dover Road, Canterbury, set the highest price – £345,000. Split into nine flats, it was offered with vacant possession and achieved a 72% uplift on the £200,000 guide.
The largest residence on offer, a detached six-bedroom house in almost an acre near Hailsham, East Sussex, sold for £141,000, against a guide of £120,000.
Other highlights included a repossessed, purpose-built maisonette in Ealing, W5, which raised £53,750 – £20,000 more than the guide.
GA also did well with a three-bedroom house requiring repairs in Bickley, near Bromley, Kent, which fetched £48,000.
