The Secretary of State has given the go-ahead for Blenheim Norwest’s ambitious £140m mixed-use proposals to transform central Hounslow.
The developer’s proposals for the 6.9ha (17 acre) Key Site One scheme comprise 18,580 sq m (200,000 sq ft) of retail space, including a food superstore and retail units. Over 450 affordable homes will also be built, alongside a hotel, offices, a 10-screen multiplex cinema, health & fitness centre, bars and restaurants.
Hounslow council leader John Connelly said: “This scheme will revitalise our town. It will regenerate the area by bringing new people to live in the centre, offering a greater depth and variety of shops and leisure facilities.”
Work will start on site next January and completion is due early 2004.
