Hasson quits Macquarie
Neil Hasson, Macquarie’s head of real estate lending, has left the business. He joined in January 2013. Hasson described his departure as “a difficult decision” and that after some time off he would pursue other real estate interests. Hasson was previously head of real estate private equity at Citi.
Lee’s Shaftesbury bid fails
Billionaire Samuel Tak Lee’s bid for a 9.3% stake in Shaftesbury has been rejected. The offer closed at 1pm on 10 August, and was conditional on Lee obtaining more than 2.7m shares, which he was unable to acquire. Shaftesbury shares have risen since the bid, to 970p per share. Tak Lee was being advised by HSBC on the offer.
Grainger to sell German ops
Grainger is to sell its wholly owned German assets in order to focus on its UK business. Lazard has been appointed to sell the unit. The sale does not include join venture interests. Updating the market, Grainger said it had acquired 929 PRS units for £83.3m in the 10 months to the end of July and achieved sales of 8.3% above September 2014 values.
