Henry Butcher has set up its property division as a stand-alone practice to be called HBSV Chartered Surveyors.
The new practice has been established to distance the firm’s property work from its long-standing reputation as a seller of plant and machinery.
Henry Butcher managing director John Hockey said: “For over 125 years, the name Henry Butcher has been synonymous with the sale of plant and machinery and industrial property.
“By forming HBSV, we are seeking to create a separate identity for a company that is already well established and highly successful.”
The 100-strong firm, which is to be based at new offices at 40 Berners Street, W1, will continue to trade from its established network of offices in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester and Southampton.
Colin Morley, chairman of HBSV, said: “The operational strategy for HBSV is ambitious and we intend to evolve the business through a planned programme of acquisition.”
