First Base and Railpen pitch BTR and offices at Devonshire Gardens

First Base and RPMI Railpen have filed plans for a £155m build-to-rent and office scheme at Devonshire Gardens in Cambridge city centre.

The partners have proposed 100 BTR flats and 120,000 sq ft of office in designs from architect Buckley Gray Yeoman. Plans include a new public park and community facilities, with a crèche, pavilion and artists’ studios.

The development will replace the old Travis Perkins depot at the three-acre site, following the land purchase last year.

Barry Jessup, chief executive at First Base, said: “Devonshire Gardens has been designed to become an exemplar long-term mixed-use development which combines highly sustainable workspace with much-needed high-quality homes, all based around a major new green park in central Cambridge.”
