First commercial tenant for the Scalpel

The Scalpel has its first commercial tenant – insurance broker BLP Global (Berry, Palmer and Lyle) which will fill level 12 of the 36 floor tower when it is completed in December 2017.

WRBC Development UK, a subsidiary of the W.R. Berkley Corporation, confirmed the lease at 52 Lime Street, EC 3, today. It will take 12,000 sq ft.

BLP Global will join W.R. Berkley Corporation’s London based insurance operation – which will occupy 74,000 sq ft.

WRBC Development UK said that another 47,000 sq ft of the 400,000 sq ft building was also under offer to an undisclosed occupier.

Andrew Reynolds, managing director, WBRC Development, said: “The signing of the first tenancy for The Scalpel marks a significant milestone in the development process.

“The level of interest from well-established and respected businesses in the surrounding area is encouraging, as they have identified The Scalpel as a means of positioning themselves strategically at the heart of their market.”

CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield are leasing agents. Spring4 acted for BPL Global.
