First homes approved at £1bn Havering regen

Wates and Havering Council have been granted planning consent for the first phase of the £1bn housing regeneration at Napier and New Plymouth House in Rainham.

Havering Council has given the green light for the joint venture partners to develop 197 homes in the first of 12 sites in the regeneration.

The plans from JTP architects were submitted in May and comprise 126 affordable homes and 71 homes for private market sale.

The application will now go to Sadiq Khan for final consideration.

Havering’s 12 Estates regeneration programme will see 5,200 homes delivered over the next 12 and 15 years. It aims to double the amount of social housing in the borough.

Kate Ives, development director for Wates Residential, said: “We have been working closely with our jv partner to ensure that the new homes in Havering are high quality and fit in with the unique feel of local area.”
