Staffordshire County Council is close to signing up the first occupier for Chasewater Heaths, its new 12ha (30-acre) business park near Lichfield. Highland Manufacturing, a local car components manufacturer has lodged a planning application for 8,361 sq m (90,000 sq ft) of production space to be built in three phases.
The company is also in negotiation with the Council to buy 1.9ha (4.7 acres) on which the unit will be built. Although Highland general manager Peter Henderson was unavailable for comment, the company is believed to be considering the purchase of the land under a section 278 agreement, whereby HM would take responsibility for infrastructure costs. According to the council’s estimate, current land values on the business park equate to £247,097 per ha(£100,000 per acre).
