Gardiner & Theobold is set to take three floors at Great Portland Estate’s Metropolis House in London’s West End ahead of the building’s launch on 26 May.
The construction consultancy is expected to take 13,800 sq ft in the tower section of the 103,000 sq ft (9,600 sq m) development on Tottenham Court Road, W1, in a boost to the scheme after it lost out on a 45,000 sq ft prelet to Arts Council England last year.
The quango would have been the first tenant at Metropolis House. But the move was cancelled after the Lyons review recommended civil service relocations out of London.
Gardiner & Theobold is expected to vacate several buildings on Bedford Square, WC1, if it moves to Metropolis House. DTZ and CBRE are the letting agents for GPE.
More West End requirements are also emerging. Zenith, Sony and BBH are all looking for 60,000-70,000 sq ft in the area.
● In Soho, Paul Raymond’s Soho Estates has achieved a rent of more than £40 per sq ft on the second floor at the refurbished 41/43 Great Windmill Street, W1, where Computer Future Solutions is taking 4,800 sq ft.
This is an improvement on last year’s letting of the top three floors to the Red Consultancy at below £40 per sq ft. EA Shaw advises Soho Estates.
