First phase of Manchester’s Enterprise City revealed

Allied London has revealed new images for its ABC Buildings development, which forms part of the first phase of its Enterprise City tech and media cluster in Manchester.

The 180,000 sq ft ABC Buildings are a refurbishment of three buildings opposite Allied London’s No 1 Spinningfields, which include more than 120,000 sq ft of office space alongside retail and leisure. Planning for the site was submitted in April.

Having been earmarked for demolition in 2015 before Allied London bought the site, the ABC Buildings will retain their 1960s design and will target film, TV, media and tech occupiers.

Enterprise City’s first phase will also include the Bonded Warehouse, an 1860s building redeveloped to house six levels of workspaces, studios and retail and event spaces. Allied London will include a co-working space known as The Department at the Bonded Warehouse, managed by hospitality and workspace company All Work & Social.

Alongside the buildings, Allied London has launched All Studios, an operational company to deliver purpose-built TV and film studios within Enterprise City.

Once complete, Enterprise City will comprise 10 buildings around Allied London’s St. John’s development, with a  mix of co-working space, tech incubators, cafes and bars, event spaces, studios and workshops.

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London, said Enterprise City will create 10,000 jobs in Manchester. He added: “Manchester’s international future is dependent on developing vital infrastructure and a diversity of spaces.

“Clusters don’t just pop up anywhere, they develop where an environment enables activity to thrive. Enterprise City is driven by the intention to create a wide and diverse series of spaces and facilities that will support modern industries and companies of all sizes, from SMEs through to large-scale growing and expanding businesses.”
