First-time buyers are older in London

First-time buyers looking for a home in parts of southeast England are having to wait on average seven years longer than in other parts of the country, analysis of mortgage approval figures by Halifax show.

The overall average age for a first-time buyer is 30, but that falls to 27 in Carlisle and rises to 34 in various areas in and near London.

The 10 places with the youngest first-time buyers all have average house prices well below the national average.
