Those first-time buyers looking to buy one of the 200,000 starter homes promised by David Cameron will need to be earning £100,000 a year to afford homes in a number of London boroughs, analysis by the House of Commons library shows.
The boroughs include Camden, Hackney and Southwark. Potential buyers in those areas would also need a deposit of £96,000.
The average income needed across the country would be £55,000, while the average deposit would be £47,000, the analysis shows.
