Crest Nicholson has short-listed five London-based architects to work on the master plan for its controversial Harbourside scheme in Bristol.
The teams in the running are Farrell & Partners, MacCormac Jamieson Prichard, Burrell Foley Fischer, Rick Mather Architects and Edward Cullinan Architects.
The developer will interview the teams this week in a bid to replace axed architect Arup Associates. Arup was dropped earlier this year after Bristol council’s finance and property sub-committee rejected Crest’s second master plan for the scheme, and said that a new architect must be found if further proposals from Crest were to be considered.
Crest dropped its appeal against the planning committee’s decision in exchange for more time to prepare a new master plan.
The developer has started a large-scale consultation process to come up with fresh ideas.
Ian Cawley, project director for Harbourside, said: “We’re in the first phase of the public consultations, which will formulate a brief for the master-planners to come forward with ideas. A preferred team will be appointed imminently.”
Crest now has until 2003 to get planning permission.
