x+why is to make its first move into the UK regional market after signing a lease for 40,000 sq ft at Brindleyplace in Birmingham.
The flexible workspace provider will open at Foundry, 6 Brindleyplace, in the spring. The building, which is located on the site of the former factories, warehouses and foundries, is currently being fitted out by John Robertson Architects and contractor Intex Projects. The work is set to finish in the summer.
Brindleyplace is a 1.1m sq ft estate owned by Hines and comprises 11 individual buildings, with capacity for more than 8,000 workers.
Hines has partnered with x+why to operate the first, second and third floors at Foundry and provide a fully serviced and managed work environment. The development will help meet the growing demand for flexible workspace for businesses in the Midlands, as well as catering to existing tenants.
Raj Rajput, managing director of asset management at Hines, said: “The repositioning of 6 Brindleyplace as Foundry marks a new era for a fantastic building at the core of our estate and in the heart of Birmingham.”
Rupert Dean, chief executive of x+why, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming tenants to what will be an innovative and design-led space early in 2022.”
