Focus Do-It-All has made an offer for J Sainsbury’s 300 Homebase stores.
Sainsbury’s put its DIY chain up for sales last month. It is valued at about £1bn.
Home Depot of the US, or LeRoy Merlin of France, could secure a UK foothold by buying Homebase. Several others are also looking at the chain, including Jim Hodkinson, former boss of New Look.
A sale is just one of the options Sainsbury’s is considering.
