Food hub revamp for Corn Exchange

Aviva Investors has unveiled its plans to transform Manchester’s Corn Exchange into a restaurant hub. The £15m proposal includes redeveloping the interior of the Grade II-listed building as a food hub while a terrace area for al-fresco dining is planned for the perimeter.

The building on Exchange Square underwent a major refurbishment following the 1996 IRA bomb attack and re-opened in 2000 as shopping mall the Triangle.

Queensberry Real Estate has been appointed to carry out the latest redevelopment.

Subject to planning approval, Aviva hopes to complete the scheme by late 2014.
