Landowner/developer Fordgate Group has revealed plans for the £60m redevelopment of Chelmsley Wood town centre in North Solihull,
The regeneration project will transform a large chunk of the town centre with plans including:
– a new 78,000 sq ft ASDA,
– a refurbishment of the 1970-built existing shopping centre
– 33,000 sq ft of additional retail units, improved transport and parking facilities
– 30,000 sq ft for replacement council offices and the relocation of the 18,000 sq ft public library.
Work has just started on the first phase of the development. Final funding arrangements are now in place with scheme being funded by Fordgate and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, along with an £9m grant from AWM.
Completion is due in 2011. Letting agents are Donaldsons.
